i spend a lot of time hanging out in my mind, and often it leads to somewhere darker than I entered.
One recurring idea that interests me is ego death, but I'm not sure I wanna go there either.

I know exactly what you mean. I qute often find myself thinking about different stuff and my brain just doesn't let me go.
Sometimes I wish there was a Big Red Button (tm) at the back of my head which I could just push and get to 'Sleep mode' or something. Something which turns me off for a couple of minutes.
